Description
The mission of Food for Others is to obtain and distribute free food to the hungry of Northern Virginia and to support food programs of other community-based organizations. They provide a channel for people to volunteer their services to help their neighbors in need.
Volunteering at Food for Others (FFO) is a fun way to achieve community service hours and self- satisfaction.
Help with a program without leaving your home: Power Pack Program (P3) allows FFO to provide a pack of food to elementary school-aged kids so they have something to eat over the weekend. Friends and family can help by donating prepared packs to FFO or serve a school directly. Emergency Referral program (ERP) provides families with a 3 to 5 day supply of food. You can run a food drive, donate prepared boxes for FFO to distribute to clients, or donate much needed clean cardboard boxes!
Warehouse volunteer positions include: prepare food to be distributed to clients, sort donations, inspect power packs before delivery, assist with client intake at the front desk, or provide general office assistance.
Minimum Age: 12
Office office and warehouse hours are Monday – Friday from 9:30am to 5pm.
Schedule in advance with the Volunteer Coordinator, [email protected].
No long term-committment. You can work in the warehouse for as little as an hour.
